Cosmetic Surgery by Dr. Robert J. Brueck
What can you do about excessive sweating?
Many people, women in particular, suffer from excessive underarm sweating. (They used to call perspiring “glowing” but there is nothing to glow about when your clothes are ruined and you are embarrassed to lift your arm.)
If that describes you, what can you do about it? There are a couple of established treatments. One is surgery to remove the underarm sweat glands. That requires all the precautions any surgery entails.
A second is injections of Botox, which immobilize the sweat glands It’s non-intrusive and requires only injections. But Botox usually loses its effectiveness in a few months, requiring follow-up injections. They are not cheap, and can add up to thousands of dollars to maintain effectiveness over an extended period.
A word about underarm sweat glands: They represent no more than 2% of the total sweat glands in your body. Removing or inactivating them has little or no impact on your body’s ability to cool itself with perspiration.
Now there is a new option. An FDA approved machine that use magnetic impulses to shut down underarm sweat glands permanently. No surgery. No injections. Just two sequential sessions with a qualified physician.
