Wanna compete in one of the best Fishing Tournaments? McFlat’s Invitational is this Weekend!

Boats in the water at 7:30 for a shotgun start. Also, while the anglers are in the water feel free to invite the rest of your family & friends to come on over for the Ronald McDonald kids Fishing tournament and Ronald McDonald luncheon from 10:00am-12:00pm at Tarpon Point Marina. Kids will have the opportunity to have lunch with Ronald McDonald as well as the opportunity to win great prizes; surely a must do event for all the Florida kids who love to fish or would love to learn how.

The weigh-in will close at 4:00pm giving everyone the opportunity to take some time to get their boats cleaned up and meet back at the Hope Ball Room in the marina area of Tarpon Point Marina.

The awards dinner & auction will begin at 6:30. This isn’t your average awards banquet either; it will include an upscale dinner, open bar and music. So we are pleased to invite you to this 6th annual event that will prove to be an event you will be sure to schedule into your calendar for years to come.

Lee County BP Oil Spill

Lee County is known for great beaches, shopping, shelling, vacationing and wildlife.

We’ve had several inquiries regarding the BP Oil Spill and if it is affecting our beautiful Islands.

The photographer/videographer that I am Max Soto, decided to go around yesterday by myself to ask some island locals their thoughts and observations on the issue. I was pleased to hear what they said and what I personally saw. The fish are still biting, the beaches are pristine and beach goers are out! The only oil I saw was people applying tropical sun tanning oil while catching some sun. Watch the video for yourself.

After hearing how Sandy relaxes at the beach. I HAD to put my gear away and spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the white sands and blue waters for myself.

It is one of the best time of the year, Tarpon Season. If you are into fishing you probably already know, Tarpon are in season! These amazing fish are one of the best sport fish you can catch. But, before you even cast your line in the water, make sure you have a valid fishing license. Once you do, you need to catch your game and then send us a picture so we can share it with everyone else. We will help you show everyone how big it really was, no fish stories!

Day two of The First Annual Chix-N-Stix Ladies Fishing Tournament, Fort Myers Fishing

Yesterday was, day two of the First Annual Chix-N-Stix Fishing Tournament! Teams started fishing at 7:00am and continued all the way to about 3:00pm! There was a little rain in the beginning of the day but that didn’t stop the ladies from catching all of the Lady fish they could! After the last bucket was brought in to weight, everyone enjoyed great food and drinks by Bahama Breeze while at Fish-Tale Marina. Once all of the teams got some food, Kristi Riley and Lacey Rush announced the all of the winners! The whole event was AMAZING and a TON of fun! Everyone did a great job putting this weekend together and helped support our troops through Operation Open Arms. Please click below to see just some of the photos from yesterday! The First Annual Chix-N-Stix Ladies Fishing Tournament, Fort Myers Fishing

Last night was a BLAST! The first annual Chix-N-Stix Fishing Tournament held their Anglers meeting at Fish-Tale Marina, who did an AMAZING job, especially given the weather! Kristi Riley and Lacey Rush did a FANTASITIC job putting this huge event together! There was a live and silent auction to benefit Operation Open Arms (supporting our troops www.operationopenarms.net) items included, vacation packages, fishing charters, jewelry, art, fishing equipment, baskets and more! Thank you to Bahama Breeze for the great food and an open bar! Below is just a taste of what it was like there last night, a video and more photos to come on Monday! Everyone get ready for today! The first event of this caliber for ladies in the fishing industry! Chix-N-Stix is taking over Southwest Florida on December 4th and 5th, 2009 on Fort Myers Beach, FL. With the cash and prize payout reaching over $5,000 and an entry fee of $100 for the ladies and $50 for the men there is no excuse not to come out and be a part of this huge event! The species of fish (ladyfish) has been kept fun to keep the pressure low; and there will be a couple of mystery fish categories, a youth division and a winner for the largest ladyfish.

Fundraiser Set for Tonight to Benefit Local Fishing Guide and Captain

Tween Waters Inn Island Resort will host a benefit for 40-year veteran fishing guide Capt. Jerry Way, on Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Wakefield Room.  Admission is $15 and includes a hog roast dinner, cash bar, live music and silent auction.

Recently diagnosed with cancer, Capt. Jerry Way is known as one of the longest working captains on Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Moving to Sanibel Island in 1954, he eventually became a captain and fishing guide, working more than 40 years on the island.

Shadowfax Sails To Panama, Scott McPhee, Sailor of the Seas

Scott McPhee put this video together of his sail from ‘Tween Waters on Captiva to the Panama Canal before heading out into the Pacific. Many people may remember the monthly articles Scott wrote for  the Sanibel papers as he sailed.  After one circumnavigation and then sailing again to the South Pacific, Scott is back in the area helping people with websites and graphics (as well as helping with this site). He can be found at www.RealAgentAssist.com. Scott said he will be putting more videos of the trip together, but until then you can go to his website and click on the picture of the sailboat on his homepage to see and read more about the trip! Scott also said he really misses the cruising life, and if you need a boat delivered to Bora Bora – he’s your guy!

2009 Fort Myers Fishing Tournament, McFlats’ Invitational. This weekend was the 5^th annual McFlats’ fishing Invitational, held at Tarpon Point, Cape Coral.
