Where to go this weekend? Downtown Fort Myers Art Walk

The downtown River District’s monthly art event continues in August with new art shows and a one-act play. The next Fort Myers Art Walk will be Friday, Aug. 6 from 6 to 10 p.m. The Aug. 6 Art Walk will include more than a dozen art stops and will feature new art exhibits, a one-act play, live music, and the traditional after party.

Several galleries and businesses will be open for an additional Saturday daytime reception from noon to 4 p.m. on Aug. 7.
Held the first Friday of every month from 6 to 10 pm., Art Walk features local and national artwork in the downtown art galleries and at several art stops in the Fort Myers River District. The evening culminates with an after party at 10 p.m. The August after party will be held at Spirits of Bacchus on Hendry Street.

Art Walk Fort Myers, HOWL Gallery

SUGAR NINJAS OPENS THIS FRIDAY! AUGUST 6TH 6-10PM

HOWL Gallery presents the all-female comic art collaborative known as the SUGAR NINJAS. Created and published by Bob Pendarvis, the SUGAR NINJAS are a diverse group of talented women artists and storytellers. A former professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Bob Pendarvis taught the school’s first comics art class and went on to create and co-found the their Sequential Art BFA and MFA degree programs. He is assisted by Emma Ravenel and Gally Articola in producing the two book anthology which showcases the collective’s works. The two books vary greatly in content, with SUGAR NINJAS: SWEET featuring works that are cute and suitable for all ages, while SUGAR NINJAS: SPICY includes edgy and adult subject matter.

FL Tarpon Division – Summer Season Registration Is Open

The summer season will start May 20th.

Fl Tarpon Kickball Summer League Registration is now OPEN! Register at the Fl Tarpon site http://www.kickball.com/fltarpon

Deadline to register is April 27th 2010! $10 fee will be added if you register after that date.

Season starts May 20th 2010 and we are back at the Wa-Ke-Hatchee Park. Our new division bar will be Stevie Tomato’s! Pre-Season Party will be Saturday, May 15th at 8pm at Stevie’s!

The day was extremely fun and everyone seemed to have a GREAT time! This is the only day that Beds with wheels took over the streets of downtown Fort Myers.

If you were downtown Fort Myers yesterday, you might have noticed the Bed Race! It would be hard not to see it! The Edison Light Festival included a junior run for the kids and a junior parade. Edison Light Festival, BED RACE, Downtown Fort Myers

Looking for something new to do this weekend? Go to downtown Fort Myers for the Edison Light Festival events on Sunday the 14th. There are going to be a lot of  fun activities like junior run for the kids and a junior parade. After that though, around 5pm, there is going to be a BED RACE! Teams have designed beds with wheels and will be racing them in downtown Fort Myers! It is going to be a blast!!! Fort Myers 2010 Art Fest, Downtown Fort Myers, Fort Myers Attractions

This weekend was the 2010 Fort Myers Art Fest located downtown Fort Myers. The Fort Myers Attraction brought in over 400 artist booths from all around the world. The historic district of Fort Myers was filled with art and art lovers. Sculptors, paintings and photography was just part of what was shown and offered in this Southwest Florida event. Our photographer, Cameron Michael was out taking photos of his own so those who could not make it out downtown. Besides the art there were a variety events for kids and adults.
