With the hot weather, Fort Myers beach is one of the best places to spend your time and cool off. The water is the perfect temperature and provides a great way to relax and avoid the humidity. With clean OIL-FREE beaches, Fort Myers beach is one of my favorite places to go on my day off or weekend.

Lee County Helps Louisiana Oil Spill Clean Up, Animal Oil Spill Release on our Beach

Just a hour ago, around 30 birds were released back into the wild today, after coming into contact with oil in the Louisiana. Lee County is Oil Free and this was a great clean place for the birds to be let go. The Pelicans and Northern gannets were all loaded onto a Coast Guard plane came to Sanibel. If you were at Algiers Beach, you were one of the lucky people who got see these birds being let back into the wild. Click below to see the Oil Free birds on our Oil Free Beach!

Hands Across the Sand, Fort Myers Beach

At noon today, hundreds of people will join hands on beaches in Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Sanibel, Marco Island and many other cities around the nation to oppose offshore oil drilling and support clean energy.

Hands Across the Sand is designed to raise awareness of opposition to offshore drilling and support for alternative energy in response to the Gulf oil disaster.

Yesterday, we talked to Lee County Florida District 4 Commissioner, Tammy Hall. We were extremely happy to hear what she had to say! Although the Deep Horizon Florida Oil Spill has harmed a lot of things, Sanibel and Captiva are still SAFE! We learned that our water is clean and our beaches are still beautiful and this is actually a great time to visit Fort Myers. Check out our backyard and enjoy a wonderful SWFL Vacation!

Tamara Pigott, Executive Director of the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau also talked to us on camera to express what a great time it is to take a vacation in our unspoiled waters of SWFL. Lee County BP Oil Spill

Lee County is known for great beaches, shopping, shelling, vacationing and wildlife.

We’ve had several inquiries regarding the BP Oil Spill and if it is affecting our beautiful Islands.

The photographer/videographer that I am Max Soto, decided to go around yesterday by myself to ask some island locals their thoughts and observations on the issue. I was pleased to hear what they said and what I personally saw. The fish are still biting, the beaches are pristine and beach goers are out! The only oil I saw was people applying tropical sun tanning oil while catching some sun. Watch the video for yourself.

After hearing how Sandy relaxes at the beach. I HAD to put my gear away and spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the white sands and blue waters for myself.

It was so nice out yesterday, we took the flip cam (the flip cam rocks, you need to get one if you don’t have one already) out and started shooting the beach. The Beaches in Fort Myers and SO nice, if you haven’t been to them recently, you got to check them out. They are truly beautiful this time of the year. The sky is clear and the beaches are clean right now, take advantage of living here!

The summer season will start May 20th.

Fl Tarpon Kickball Summer League Registration is now OPEN! Register at the Fl Tarpon site http://www.kickball.com/fltarpon

Deadline to register is April 27th 2010! $10 fee will be added if you register after that date.

Season starts May 20th 2010 and we are back at the Wa-Ke-Hatchee Park. Our new division bar will be Stevie Tomato’s! Pre-Season Party will be Saturday, May 15th at 8pm at Stevie’s!

Johnson Park, operated by Lee County Parks, boasts wide sandy beaches, clean clear water, and the feeling of being “away from it all – yet close to amenities and luxury hotels. The first place that came to mind was Fort Myers Beach, it was sunny, warm and people were all around. The other day we got a couple great shots of some Fort Myers children playing at the beach. Once a couple of seagulls came around, the kids kept getting more to fallow! After a couple of minutes, the beach started to look like a scene from the old Film “Birds” because they were everywhere. Though the birds were very friendly we recommend not to feed any wild animal. But it sure was fun taking the photos of the situation.

Sanibel beach was the place to witness the Last Year Annual Sanibel National Polar Bear Club Swim. Hundreds of people, or as they call them mice, came out to watch, while 229 bears had the courage to take the plunge (by the way, it was 79 degrees today). At least they didnt have to cut through any ice to enjoy a dip in our tropical waters.

But this year at Tarpon Bay Beach, we are going to make it bigger! Get ready to drive over to Sanibel, Jan. 1st for the 10th Annual Sanibel National Polar Bear Club Plunge! The event takes place at noon but be sure to get there early!!! Click here to see more photos of last years plunge!
