Inaugural “Girls’ Night Out” Event to Benefit Blessings in a Backpack at Harley Davidson in Fort Myers
Last night was the Inaugural “Girls’ Night Out” event to benefit Blessings in a Backpack. The event was the largest women’s networking event that Lee County! It took place at Harley Davidson in Fort Myers from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm. There seemed to be more than 300 women at the event. Click below to see photos taken by Max Soto.
A bit about the event and the charity: Blessings in a Backpack is an amazing organization that is feeding local children in need who are on federally subsidized meal programs at Tice. It costs only $80 to feed a child for 1 year and 100 cents on the dollar goes to feed the kids (you can read more about it here). We will be giving away “The Ultimate Girls’ Night Out” to anyone who sponsors 10 children. The Ultimate GNO is an evening involving a limo bus, a yacht and a pub crawl for you and 3 of your friends.
Blessings in a Backpack is a results oriented program. This unique program is designed to feed children grades K-5 in Title 1 public schools who qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Meal Program and may not have any or enough food on the weekends. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program.
