Boats in the water at 7:30 for a shotgun start. Also, while the anglers are in the water feel free to invite the rest of your family & friends to come on over for the Ronald McDonald kids Fishing tournament and Ronald McDonald luncheon from 10:00am-12:00pm at Tarpon Point Marina. Kids will have the opportunity to have lunch with Ronald McDonald as well as the opportunity to win great prizes; surely a must do event for all the Florida kids who love to fish or would love to learn how.

The weigh-in will close at 4:00pm giving everyone the opportunity to take some time to get their boats cleaned up and meet back at the Hope Ball Room in the marina area of Tarpon Point Marina.

Crowne Plaza Fort Myers FL Hotel, Fort Myers Accommodation

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Fort Myers Crowne Plaza for three nights. I had a lot of business to take care of and the Fort Myers Hotel is centrally located in the heart of Lee County. It took me less than 10 minutes to Downtown Fort Myers, 5 Minutes to Cape Coral and hardly anything to the beach. Crowne Plaza is located in the Bell Tower Shops, so I just walked over to all of the restaurants and stores, it was great. While staying there I got a great room with a wonderful view of the pool, it was where I spent my afternoons after working out in their fitness room. The accommodation provides wireless Internet and a business room with large screen computers and a comfortable work environment. Very helpful when having to respond to tons of emails! Overall, I would recommend the Crowne Plaza to everyone who is looking for a place in town to stay! I was able to complete a great deal of work and be totally comfortable while doing so!

Crew From the “DEADLIEST CATCH” at GULF COAST TOWN CENTER, Blessing in a Backpack

Pinchers Crab Shack, is hosting a block party at their new Gulf Coast Town Center location with 3 of the crewmembers from the Discovery Channel’s Northwestern: Edgar Hansen – Deck Boss, Matt Bradley – Deckhand and Jake Anderson – Junior Deckhand on Saturday, August 21st.

Pinchers wants to celebrate with the community. The event is free, open to the public and will feature live music, a silent auction and festivities for the entire family.

Avid motorcycle riders when not fishing, all three crewmembers will be participating in a ride from Harley-Davidson of Fort Myers to Naples Harley-Davidson and ending at Pinchers Crab Shack the day of the event. Participants should arrive at Harley-Davidson of Fort Myers at 2:00 p.m., leaving at 3:00 p.m. The second leg of the ride will leave Naples Harley-Davidson at 4:45 p.m. arriving at Pinchers Crab Shack by approximately 5:30 p.m.

Where to go this weekend? Downtown Fort Myers Art Walk

The downtown River District’s monthly art event continues in August with new art shows and a one-act play. The next Fort Myers Art Walk will be Friday, Aug. 6 from 6 to 10 p.m. The Aug. 6 Art Walk will include more than a dozen art stops and will feature new art exhibits, a one-act play, live music, and the traditional after party.

Several galleries and businesses will be open for an additional Saturday daytime reception from noon to 4 p.m. on Aug. 7.
Held the first Friday of every month from 6 to 10 pm., Art Walk features local and national artwork in the downtown art galleries and at several art stops in the Fort Myers River District. The evening culminates with an after party at 10 p.m. The August after party will be held at Spirits of Bacchus on Hendry Street.

SUGAR NINJAS OPENS THIS FRIDAY! AUGUST 6TH 6-10PM

HOWL Gallery presents the all-female comic art collaborative known as the SUGAR NINJAS. Created and published by Bob Pendarvis, the SUGAR NINJAS are a diverse group of talented women artists and storytellers. A former professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Bob Pendarvis taught the school’s first comics art class and went on to create and co-found the their Sequential Art BFA and MFA degree programs. He is assisted by Emma Ravenel and Gally Articola in producing the two book anthology which showcases the collective’s works. The two books vary greatly in content, with SUGAR NINJAS: SWEET featuring works that are cute and suitable for all ages, while SUGAR NINJAS: SPICY includes edgy and adult subject matter.

We are in the field almost everyday, we always get asked “Where is the best beach to go in Fort Myers?”. That is a tough question to answer because there are so many wonderful beaches all around Fort Myers.

Lee County Helps Louisiana Oil Spill Clean Up, Animal Oil Spill Release on our Beach

Just a hour ago, around 30 birds were released back into the wild today, after coming into contact with oil in the Louisiana. Lee County is Oil Free and this was a great clean place for the birds to be let go. The Pelicans and Northern gannets were all loaded onto a Coast Guard plane came to Sanibel. If you were at Algiers Beach, you were one of the lucky people who got see these birds being let back into the wild. Click below to see the Oil Free birds on our Oil Free Beach!

11^th Annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration, Fort Myers

Miromar Outlets is expecting greater than normal attendance at the 11^th Annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on Saturday, July 3rd presented by Miromar Outlets and Germain Arena.   This year, organizers are anticipating an even higher turnout, in part, because of the cancellation of some of the other large fireworks displays in Southwest Florida.

At 5p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Southern Extreme Water-Ski Team will perform on the lake between Miromar Outlets and Germain Arena.  At 5:30 p.m. live music will be performed by the GEEK SKWAD, a high energy rock band.   The entertainment will continue into the evening.   The fireworks show will take place over the lake beginning at dusk.  Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.  Coolers and personal fireworks are not permitted.  Restaurants in Miromar Outlets prepare weeks in advance for the volume of food sales during the Independence Day Celebration.  The full compliment of restaurants will be open during the celebration.  Additional parking for the fireworks is available at Germain Arena after 5 p.m.
